James Clark

James started playing the upright bass and the electric bass in junior high school. However, in 1994, he decided to switch to the saxophone. He began taking lessons with Ray Wright and was good enough to start playing in local bands such as “Synergy”, “Manna From Heaven”, “All City Swingers”, and “Agape”. After a few years studying with Ray Wright, James started taking lessons with Odean Pope. In 2021, he started lessons with Claire Daly, whom he is presently with. James' baritone sax playing has been influenced by Leo Parker, Claire Daly, and Joe Sudler, to name a few.
