Mike Clay

Tenor Saxophone

Mike Clay started playing the clarinet at the age of 8. He quickly progressed and was invited to play in the school orchestra. At the age of 10, his father brought him a tenor saxophone. Mike also learned to play the soprano saxophone and the alto saxophone by the time he reached 14. At the age of 16, Mike began getting R&B and Jazz gigs in his hometown of New York. Still a teenager, Mike toured with Deniece Williams, Vesta Williams, and Gladys Knight.

Mike moved to the Philadelphia area at around the age of 23 and started playing with Anthony Hamilton and local bands, To The Maxx, and the Urban Guerilla Orchestra. Mike has also played with Cedric Napoleon and Pieces of A Dream.

Mike is currently a very much “in-demand” area saxophonist and does many local gigs when he’s not working on cruise ships with UGO.
