Paul Grant

Paul Grant has sixty-five years of experience playing jazz. Retired U.S. Army bandsman, he served as a member of the 440th, Army Band at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, 1968, 1969 and the 296th Army Band at Camp Zama, Japan, 1969 to 1971. He concluded his duty, with the 276th Army Band in Philadelphia, 1980 to 1997.
Paul started playing in the House Band, at the Showboat Casino, in Atlantic City in 1989, and played in three bands there for a total of 17 years. The last two years he was leader of his own band, “Paul Grants New Orleans Swing”, 2006 & 2007. In Philadelphia, he played with the “Frank Jackson”, “Don Wilson”, “Art Daniels”, “Johnny Coles”, “Jonathan” and the “Clef Club” Big Bands.
In 2002, Paul was assistant musical director and trumpeter, alongside ragtime great, Terry Waldo, in the Louis Armstrong production of “Ambassador Satch”, which premiered for five weeks at the Prince Music Theatre in Philadelphia and eight weeks at the Helen Hayes Theatre in New York. He performed a total of eight months with the show. Paul also played in various small groups, around Philadelphia, such as the “John Breslin Band” and currently with the “Barbone Street Jazz Band”.
